FAQs

How do I know if I need a hearing aid??

Have you noticed hearing loss is affecting your daily life? Has your family noticed you are not hearing as well as you have in the past? Your audiologist can test your hearing to help determine if you have hearing loss and, if necessary, work with you on options that may help you.

Will a hearing aid restore my hearing to normal?

No, hearing aids are designed to make hearing easier, but they do restore the natural function of your ear

Why do hearing aids cost so much?

The amount of time and money spent by manufacturers on research and development is considerable. Hearing aids are also produced and sold at a lower volume, affecting price. There is also a one - to two-year warranty for loss/damage and repairs included within the purchase price.

The service for programming your hearing aids is included in the price of your hearing aids. This includes Real Ear verification and mapping and all of the adjustments needed in order to personalize the hearing aids to each individual’s needs. The correct programming is so important and is needed in order maximize your benefit with your hearing aids.

How long will my hearing aids last?

Most people wear a pair of hearing aids 4-5 years before they get a new pair. People often upgrade due to the benefits of new technology. Just a few of the newest features include improved hearing in background noise and clarity, rechargeability and bluetooth.

Why should I pursue my hearing healthcare at a medical practice rather than mail order or Costco?

At Nichols Hearing and Audiology, and many other medical practices, you are guaranteed to see an audiologist. An audiologist will have a doctorate in Audiology, providing a specialized professional treatment. You are not guaranteed the same quality of care at Costco and will likely never see a hearing care professional through mail order hearing aids.
